R.E. Goodson Construction began in 1946, when R.E. “Bob” Goodson bought his first bulldozer from the U. S. Army to build log roads and work with his logging crew. The Cat D-7 came by train in a wooden crate and was painted green. The wooden crate was used as a shop building. R.E. Goodson Construction has grown from the green Cat D-7 to 150 pieces of heavy equipment and 100 employees. R.E. Goodson Construction has grown from building log roads in the Great Pee Dee River Swamp to building interstate highways in South Carolina and North Carolina. Today, R.E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc. is a privately held, family owned business. The company was started with the owner being with the logging crew everyday, this tradition continues today with the third generation of the family supervising the operations of the company. Bob Goodson began the company to improve his logging business with the purchase of the green Cat D-7, today, R.E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc. uses the latest machine control technology to build its projects. R.E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc. uses all necessary resources to manage its projects. R.E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc.’s projects are successful because of effective communication, planning, and scheduling of resources . The owner’s of the company are involved in every phase of the projects and strive to maintain open channels of communication with the project engineers and owner representatives with on going problem solving and cooperation.
