History of RE Goodson Construction Company, Inc.

R.E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc., a fourth-generation family owned construction business headquartered in Darlington, South Carolina, began in the mid 1940’s when Mr. R. E. (Bob) Goodson, Sr., started in the logging business. Mr. Bob purchased a bulldozer from the U.S. Army. The dozer was delivered by train in a wooden crate and was still painted army green. Grading jobs were added and some years later, Mr. Bob’s son, Robert, joined the company. It remained relatively small until the devastation of Hurricane Hazel in 1954, when the company performed a large part of the beach renourishment in the Cherry Grove area of South Carolina.

In 1957, the company was incorporated and added road work at that time. R. E. Goodson is a longtime member of Carolinas AGC and licensed to perform work in both North and South Carolina. With honesty and hard work the company has continued to grow over the years with the addition of many valued employees as well as other family members. Today, R. E. Goodson Construction Co., Inc., now solely owned by Ronald A. Goodson, Sr., continues its commitment to excellence with over eighty years of experience supported by its dedicated, hard-working team of employees.
